Introduction

 

Over the last few years the music industry has seen a far-reaching advance in new technologies, changing the ways in which we produce and consume music. Digital music is now primarily driving the growth of the music industry, accounting for approximately half of revenue. The change to digital has presented the industry with many challenges, in particular the arrival of many piracy websites, which allow consumers to illegally download their music for free. Many businesses have tried to tackle this issue by implementing strategies such as copyright laws to help eliminate infringement.
